Question: I have an older car that doesn't have an auxiliary (AUX) port. How can I listen to music from my Iphone or Android phone on my car Stereo?
Answer: An FM transmitter is needed to play music from your Smart phone to your car stereo system.
What is an FM Transmitter?
FM transmitters turn your music device into a mini radio station. They plug into your device's charging port or headphone socket and then transmit the music being played across a chosen FM radio frequency. This leaves you free to simply tune in via your car radio.
They are a wireless solution, including Bluetooth, which will work with pretty much any car, but they can suffer from problems with interference and poor sound quality. More recent models tend to be better and some can charge your device and act as a hands free kit for mobile phones.
How do I connect to it?
- To use FM transmitters you generally just plug them into your music device through a mini cable or through a Bluetooth connection.
- Then choose a radio frequency on the transmitter transmit your audio across (choose a frequency that isn't occupied by a local radio station).
- Then tune your radio to the same frequency and turn the volume up.
- Finally play a song / music from your music player and you are good to go.
Most newer model vehicles included auxiliary ports and or Bluetooth connection. If you have an older car the Nulaxy Wireless In-Car Bluetooth FM Transmitter Radio Adapter Car Kit with 1.44 Inch Display and USB Car Charger. Is a great transmitter. I've owned 3 or 4 FM transmitters through the years and this model is by far the best FM transmitter I've ever owned.
